and we finally get an epic game 7. i'm sure it will be streaming on all the available platforms, right? nope, just ESPN. what a fucking clown shoe league.
I feel like tonight's game is going to be a blowout, but you could convince me it will be a W for either team. I guess that's not super insightful since there's only been a single one goal game this series, and 4 with a margin of 3 or more. I just hope both teams get level goaltending. Doesn't mean they both have to be good, in fact, as a neutral observer I kind of want both goalies to stink tonight.
...but whatever, the Blues won the Cup!!!!!

i really wanted buffalo to win too. of course i didn't get to watch it, had to listen to it on the very broken SXM app. heartbreaker. that being said, they had a great season and it was great experience for a younger squad. at this point, i'm all in on habs. been too long since a canadian team won The Cup. i'd be OK if the avs won, too. really, anyone but VGK or the canes.

Really curious to see what type of offseason they have. Jarmo loves to take big swings, and we certainly know he tried to at the deadline. They have to decide whether or not they want to overpay long term to keep Tuch at 30 years old after great season but an absolute no show in the second round (0 pts, -9). If they wlet him walk, how do they go about replacing his production? They were looking to shake up their D with Parayko at the deadline, so I assume they'll continue to look at their blueline. What does that look like? Also they have 3 decent regular season goalies, none of which look ready to play in big moments. Optimisim is rightfully high in Buffalo, but it's a tricky offseason.

He gave up a lot for two guys at the deadline who didn't even suit up for game 7. Not sure if that'll make him gun shy or not.

That's amazing when you consider all the offense that Buffalo put up.

You look at their forward group as currently constructed and it could use a booster shot big time. Their defense is what really drives that bus but like you said they got some big decisions to make up front. Big challenge to improve it.

Good Lord, this is maybe the jinxiest jinx to ever jink.
If we live in a just world, Carter Hart wouldn't be anywhere near lifting the cup. COME ON AVS!

Although, Avs losing does move the 3rd Blues pick up a couple spots so there is that, I suppose.

The upside of a Vegas Cup run is hearing Leaf fans moan/whine/panic about the Marner fiasco.
By far, his best post-season ever.
It's interesting, most years his playoff stats in Toronto were fairly good, and occaisionally really good (small sample size warning). Same for Matthews and Nylander. Tavares was another story, his numbers took a nosedive in the postseason. I'm sure someone has done an analysis on this, but I wonder if the Leafs playoffs struggles were more about a lack of depth rather than the big boys not getting it done.

Who could've foreseen depth being an issue on a team with 4 $10M+ AAV forwards?

What I like is that he's finally scoring some goals. The most he ever had in a post-season before was 3. About time he stepped it up. I want to see Thomas do the exact same thing next year in the playoffs with the Blues.

Vegas won 39 of their 82 games this season and are in the Cup final. Unreal.

I may be completely wide of the net here but I have to imagine a Vegas vs Carolina final would be one of the least watched in History.

Carolina, while a great team, is a smaller market and their team has zero name recognition. You could ask a regular hockey fan to name 2-3 players on the team and I think most would struggle. Hell, some might not be able to come up with one name.

Then there is Vegas. They've been there, done that. I don't think fans around the league like them because they believe they've manipulated the salary cap, but at the same time I don't think fans hate them enough for a proper hate watch, like they do with a team like the Panthers.

Again though, I could be wrong.
