Blues offseason thread

Starting the offseason with kind of a shocker, at least to me. Blues do not QO Berggren meaning he will be a UFA. Less surprising but still newsworthy, Kessel not QO'd either.

22 points in just 51 games for the Blues, still only 25. Maybe they try to bring him back at a cheaper rate but I'm assuming he will have a free agent market.

One of the things I read was that in order to qualify him they would have had to offer a $1.8M+ contract so that may have played a part too.

One of the things I read was that in order to qualify him they would have had to offer a $1.8M+ contract so that may have played a part too.
If they viewed him as any sort of asset, I would think that would be fine with that figure considering they have plenty of cap space. I certainly would rather have him than Drouin but I understand why Drouin is here.

The team does have an overload of wingers and maybe it's just as simple as freeing up a spot for Stenberg and their hopes that Carb breaks camp with the team. I still expect him to start in the AHL, but we'll see.

I think the QO had to be a certain term or AAV that probably isn’t worth it for the team, but if everyone involved likes the fit you can still sign at a lesser term or AAV. Minnesota just did the same thing with Bobby Brink. Weird that it’s happened a couple times in the same year.

Not really expecting much of anything from the Blues today. It would be fun if they did something like make another offer sheet signing or something, but I’ll never get my hopes up about something like that. Doesn’t sound like there are any big trades coming at this point either. They made a couple signings 7/1 last year, but I think they were headed in a different direction and that UFA class was a little deeper.

Then we flip all 3 for Hellebuyck. What's the point in signing Perron if you don't get to eventually trade him again anyway?

In all seriousness though, a Vet on such a youthful team wouldn't be the worst thing this team could do.
